Preparing Your Theme For Cydia

To prepare your theme for submission, follow these simple steps. First of all you will need to decide the name of your theme. Lets assume that you have a working theme and you decided to name it 'matrix'.

1) Create a new folder on your desktop called 'matrix' (the name should be be in lower case)

2) Double click on a folder you just created to open it. Inside of this new folder 'matrix', create two other folders called 'DEBIAN' (upper case, just the way i wrote it) and 'Library'.

Now, lets create a control file. This file will contain information about your theme such as description, name etc; it will also contain your information such as your name, your email address (if you wish to include), etc.

To create a 'control' file, open your text editor. If you are on the Mac, you can use TextEdit. Inside of this text file add these lines:

Package: com.macciti.matrix (where 'matrix' is the name of your theme)
Name: Name of your theme goes here.
Version: Specify the version, if its a first release, put it as 1.0
Architecture: iphoneos-arm (this will never change, leave it like that)
Description: Please provide the description of your theme here.
Maintainer: MacCiti <>
Author: Put your name and email address here.
Sponsor: MacCiti <>
Section: Themes (SpringBoard)

So at the end it should look like this:
Package: com.macciti.matrix
Name: Matrix
Version: 1.0
Architecture: iphoneos-arm
Description: WinterBoard theme with nice abstract wallpaper, text icons, status bar, and dock!
Maintainer: MacCiti <>
Author: MacCiti <>
Sponsor: MacCiti <>
Section: Themes (SpringBoard)

NEXT: Save the file as 'control' inside of the 'DEBIAN' folder you created earlier.

Alright, you are almost there :)
Navigate to your 'matrix' folder on your Desktop and open it. (You should have DEBIAN and Library folders already created)

1) Open 'Library' folder and inside of it, create another folder called 'Themes'

2) Open 'Themes' folder you just created and drag and drop your ACTUAL theme here. The structure should look something like this: matrix/Library/Themes/Matrix

A lot of people who submit their themes for MacCiti to host, expect us to have them up and ready the next day. It is possible and it is what we are aiming for. However, please be sure to clean up your theme before submitting it to us. What i mean is, you have to delete all invisible files (cache if you will).

To do that, on your Mac or Windows choose to see invisible files and delete them.

Your are done! Now your theme is ready for submission. Its not hard at all, and it take about 10 minutes to complete. :)
