    Default Icon Request Tutorial

Hello all new members! i would like to take a minute to show everybody how to submit an icon request.

first off, i make icons for the iSatin/Carbon Ovation themes and if you will follow my process, it will make things easier for everybody.

It is a lot easier to make icons when you start off with a screenshot of the original icons. so first, love all of your desired icons to a page by themselves. after that, go into winterboard and turn OFF all themes for the moment. when your device resprings, go to the page(s) with your icons and take a screenshot of them. to do this, press the sleep/power button and the home button at the same time. when the screenshot is taken, connect your device to your computer via USB. Autoplay should then come up. if not, go to computer and right click your device and select Autoplay. chose "Open folder to view files", then "Internal storage", then "DCIM." now scroll to the bottom and drag your screenshot to the desktop.

next you will need to host your picture on a website. Imageshack is great because you can use it from MacCiti, but any image hosting site will do. when the screenshot is uploaded, right click it and say view image and COPY this URL. after that, go to MacCiti and go to the themes Release thread. press post reply and press this buton:

then PASTE the URL from the screenshots website and press ok. following the picture, please list the names of all the icons in order to make it easier for the person making the icons.

BE PATIENT while they are making them. it takes time.

    when the icons are done:
download or save them to your computer and SSH them into var/stash/themes.xxxxx/your theme/icons. After that, activate your theme(s) in winterboard and move the icons back.

Also, considering that the person was nice enough to take time out of his day to help you make your iPhone/iPod look good, think about donating to him/her for their time.

I hope this has helped everyone
    Colby

well some themes (like iSatin) support categories. and with the the categories can use their own icons that are slightly different.

to SSH the category themes in, create a new folder called category icons and then a new folder inside that called "Icons" (without the quotations) and just move all of the category icons into the icons folder and ssh it into var/stash/themes. this theme however will NOT be activated in winterboard, it will be activated in the categories settings. to get to the categories settings, open the category and press the I button at the bottom right and choose Icon theme and select your category icons theme.
