    Default Backup your ECID SHSH

It ishighlyrecommended to back up your ECID SHSH blobs if you have an iPod Touch 3G, iPhone 3Gs, oriPhone 4.

The best part of using Firmware Umbrella is you are not required to be jailbroken, like with Cydia. Plus the files are saved on your system.

Navigate to The Firmware Umbrella. On the right side there is a Quick Links area, and it lists the different computer systems. Choose yours and click on it. Run it (or save and run). [Highlighted Red Below]

It will Auto-detect your iDevice with an ECID. It will have a button that says "Save my SHSH" with your device name listed in a box below it. [Highlighted in Green]

It will save your ECID SHSH blobs to your system for use later should you have to restore.

    Notes:

If you have FileVault enabled, you may run into issues saving your SHSH file.
If you have an iPhone4 it MUST BE CONNECTED IN ORDER TO SAVE YOUR SHSH!! With ALL other devices all you need is the ECID to save your SHSH.

    Your files are saved in:

    MAC:

    /Users/<your username>/.shsh
    ex: /Users/semaphore/.shsh

    WINDOWS XP:

    <MAIN DRIVE>:\Documents and Settings\<username>\.shsh
    ex: C:\Documents and Settings\semaphore\.shsh

    WINDOWS 7:

    <MAIN DRIVE>:\Users\<username>\.shsh
    ex: C:\Users\semaphore\.shsh

(not sure exactly where to post this, Pwnapple, if you could move it to the appropriate section)

Cool, I need to go back and put in the info on what to do with with the SHSH files when you need them. Let me get some screenshots and I will update it.

download the firmware you have your shsh with from here ( iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download ) and then hold shift and press restore in itunes while your iDevice is hooked up to your pc and recogonized by itunes - select the firmware you downloaded from felixbruns then let itunes do its thing ...... when its done you'll get a error 1015 - just kick it out of the loop with iRecovery , recboot, or tiny umbrella (My Fav) to download tiny umbrella (you should already have it if you saved your shsh with out the make my life easier button in cydia) go here - The Firmware Umbrella - in tiny umbrella it has a kick out of recovery button - just press that with your iDevice still plugged in and it'll do the rest

ps . make sure you have sauriks server - this is a great video on how - YouTube - How To DOWNGRADE iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod Touch & iPad From 4.0.2 Back To 4.0.1, 4.0, 3.1.3, 3.2.1 and it will help explain what ive said
