For New Members - Please read

Hello to all! It has come to my attention that there is some confusion regarding themes. Specifically ios4, and it's relation to themes. If you are new to the jailbreaking and theming business this is important to you!!

If you are running Apples latest firmware version, either 4.0 or 4.0.1, you need to double check the themes you are downloading here and on Cydia and Rock to make sure they are compatible with that firmware. It should say ios4 compatible. If it does not say this, it is not setup to run with your firmware. At best you will get a few themed icons, a wallpaper, and some UIimages. I know of maybe 5 or 6 full themes right now that are actually ios4 compatible. That is out of a few thousand that are out there, so it is pretty easy to pick them out!! It is important that you do your research first before downloading.

In relation to tweaks, and apps in Cydia or Rock, it is the same. There are only a handful that are compatible with ios4. Springjumps will download and give you icons, but it does not do anything. Iconoclasm, Infinidock, Infiniboard, FiveiRows, FiveColumb, and almost every tweak a themer uses will most likely crash your springboard, and can put you into endless boot loops, which as a new jailbreaker can be quite stressful. Please ask if you are wondering about anything before you download it.

At time of this post: Categories, CatSB, FiveIconDock, iBlanks, SBsettings, iFile, MIM, and StatusNotifier are compatible with ios4. These are the basic theming tools. Winterboard is compatible but only working at about 75% of what it does for pre-ios4 firmwares.

EDIT: I am making this a sticky because its useful, and adding one thing. ALL of the compatible and non-compatible apps are listed here and are updated daily! PLEASE always check that site before downloading a tweak. like Vic said, better to be safe than sorry!
