I have had my Iphone4 since its release, and last night decided to unlock it. Used Jailbreak Me. Alacazam, jailbroken.

I sort of expected it to be radically different when it rebooted, but it looked the same, but with Cydia. I waned to change the look and feel of the interface, so I downloaded the 266 theme. Here is where I go off the rails.

My supreme frustration is this: I am not a techie. I have to read the directions to pop a bag of popcorn, so I had no idea what I was doing here. I have been using the Installation guides on iphone266.com. I was going for the 266 Quick theme; I went back and got the Fontswap, Iconoclasm, SBSettings, and aallllllllllllll the other s__t that the installation guides call for. Problem is that the 266 themes, along with the packages, and frameworks, etc, have become overwhelming. The weather icon crashes summerboard. Or springing winterboard after making certain tweaks does not work as shown. I am at the point of saying f__k all of this. With all of the revisions and updates and alternative widgets to perform the same functions, i'm overwhelmed. Should I say f__k it? Are unlocked iphones just for the more tech talented among us? I recognize the possibilities, I just cant get there.

Dude,dude,dude!!!!slow down. Take all of it out! All of it!! If you can just restore and rejailbreak, but i know this is an issue for those using an unlock. Start clean and fresh with just Cydia. Ok. Now spend some time in the forums here. Go through all the iPhone 4 threads, theming threads, all of it. All of your questions will be answered in these threads. Do not download anything through Cydia till you have checked here to make sure it is compatible. All your going to do is crash your idevice and get no where. Just take it one step at a time. Nice and easy.

No way man don't give up on it. The reason you are having so much frustration is because all of those themes are not iPhone 4 ready. A lot of images, frameworks, and widgets are different or incompatible and cause issues (crashing or simply just not working). Wait it out a little bit and new themes will be ready and it'll be nice and easy. It is good to have some tech knowledge, but you can get by without it (if all you are doing is themes). And if you ever have questions, to be afraid to post them up because we are all one community and are here to help!

Thanks guys. I think I may restore in itunes, and start again. Maybe something less ambitious, more stable. I just needed to vent, I have been staring at that little screen too long.

ive been staring at the little screen every day for 3 years now and as they said, a lot of the themes are incompatible with iphone 4 right now.. ESP the widgets.. after everything gets ironed out, and u brush up on your themeing lingo a bit, it will be a blast... oh, and also, Edge of Night is getting close to iPhone 4 release, and that (in my opinion) is one of the best themes out right now

K9H2O - dude seriously DONT give up i promise you it will all work out. As many of the others have already said, the only reason why your iPhone 4 crashed is because half of the apps/tweaks/themes on cydia arent compatible with iP4. The apps/tweaks/mods/themes ARE being updated but slowly to iP4 its just a waiting game. But trust me when we know whats happening you will know i promise you that, this is one of the best sites for the latest news regarding anything apple/jailbreak/themeing/cydia EVERYTHING lol Honestly just restore your iphone rejailbreak and chill for a bit you really arent missing out on much. Read the posts here and familirise yourself with the iphone 4/ios4 and themeing mods etc. Take a look at my post about all compatible apps for iphone 4 it will come in very handy and it will save you restoring your iphone4 again lol Check the list here

As the others say, stick with it and keep researching and reading threads on here and other forums. You'll be amazed at how quick you pick things up and really amazed at how many people will go out of their way to help you achieve what you want from your phone.

I would just stick some of the simpler stuff like until more of the tweaks are ready for the Ip4. I myself have simple things like strings changes, and different sliders and colors. This keeps the iphone simple with a classy twist to make people look twice.
