Default converted a DVD movie to ipad-HD

so i converted an 800Mb DVD film to a setting called ipad-hd using DVD to iPad converter from ifunia. Now the file has ballooned to over 5.0Gb in size for an .mp4. Now will it actually appear higher quality on the iPad due to this enormity ?
    thanks for any suggestions.

    5gb....?
the quality will most likely only be as good as the original version.
I used to use a program by Xilisoft but I've lots the reg since I had to restore my computer, but it was one of the easiest/best that I found.
The MP4 files used to be bigger than other formats like avi, mpg etc, but generally a 800mb film would probably come out about 1gb.

    5gb just seems ott

try ffmpegx.. i have only seen a 200mb swing going from dvd to .mp4... something is definitely up there. no way should it be 5gb and the quality wont show for it.

    Format Factory
ive been using that program to convert for a while its 99.9% perfect (nothings perfect, but its close) ive converted many movies and it dosent lose much quality AND its faster then most i find. so give it a try, most likely your converter messed up or planted a virus.

yea, if your getting 5GB, your getting all the subtitle data, language packs, menus, previews, etc. Format Factory is good. Also there is a program called DVD shrink that is good for getting just the Movie part from the dvd, (and scene selection as well i think, which is usable on iPad/iPhone) and can even adjust the quality with it some.
Another program called DVDFab that is REALLY good at this conversion as well.
DVDFab is paid, Format Factory is free, and i cant remember on DVDShrink.

Also, idk if you are on a mac or not but if u are, handbrake is the way to go. Great lil free app for stripping down just the video in the format u want.

If it was already a file on your computer (and im assuming it is because you said it was a 800mb file...) then just download VLC for ipad for free from the app store. Now we don't have to worry about converting video formats
