Not sure if it's the same thing but when I copy some icons from my iPhone to my PC I cannot view some of them just all black, and I have to use a program called pngnormalizer which does something to them to make them visible/editable!

Strange isn't it, never had problem with 3GS icons just iPhone 4 icons/images
It's only some of them and mainly things like status bar images and springboard but seems to be common, that's how I found pngnormalizer!
