Is it really worth it or no
Okay, well advantages: You have the ability to customize your phone in so many different ways. Change default sounds like your SMS tone, unlock tone, and keyboard tone. You can change icons, status bars, almost every element and image of your phone can be changed and personalized to your liking by using themes. And the last HUGE advantage is all the tweaks and mods. They make your iDevice more user friendly with things like Activator and BiteSMS. Make your phone even better....
Disadvantages: None, really. Maybe a slightly slower phoone depending on how many tweaks and how heavy a theme your using. But if you dont have a LOT of tweaks, you should be fineOh, and Jailbreaking voids Apple warranty. So you can't take a JB'd iPhone in for fixing.... Although I have heard stories of people doing it and apple never really said a thing.... And you can always just restore before you take it in and Apple would never know better....
So, yeah, i think it's worth it, but it's completley up to you.![]()
I would if I were you. I mean there are so many cool things that you can do with a jailbroken iPhone, as turtlepaw said. BiteSMS comes with QuickReply and QuickCompose, so you can reply to text messages while in any app, without having to leave it. Same with QuickCompose, you can compose a message whilst in any app, no need to switch back to the default SMS app. Colorkeyboard and BytaFont are really good reasons to jailbreak as well. I personally hate the default font on the iPhone, download BytaFont and switch it over to something more to your liking. Colorkeyboard gives you the option to theme your keyboard. Also, as turtlepaw said, as long as you don't have a ton of tweaks installed, it won't slow down your phone. So try it, and have fun!![]()
I say try it, if you don't like it, it's very easy to restore from last backup on iTunes and have your phone back to what it was
Yes it is worth it. The amount of custamization is well worth it.
For Advantages, the themes (look around this site), some amazing tweaks, ranging from the simple (adding 5 icons in your dock) to a little more complex (activator, can pretty much set any function/app to nearly any motion button press you desire).
The only real disadvantages are possibly decreased battery life (depending on the tweaks/themes you use) but is rarely noticable. and the biggest disadvantage, is loosing the ability to just simply upgrade when a new firmware is released. You generally should restore back to factory (and update at the same time) and then rejailbreak. Although with iTunes to back up your normal stuff, and PKGbackup (with dropbox support, NOT through the contacts) to cover the rest, (and dreamboard for themes), it really shouldnt be to much of a hassle there either.
But just for the personalized look of YOUR device (that you bought, but Apple still insists on having absolute control) it is well worth it. I have been doing it since 2.0 came out, and would probably not even own an iDevice if i could not jailbreak it.
I agree I love what you can do to a jailbroken iPhone...even if you think you'll never understand it...everyone learns something and the help in this forum is great...I was totally rubbish at jailbreaking my phone at first...but after a few attempts it was great to see how different my iPhone looked...as long as there is a jailbreak I will always do it
I've been jailbreaking for over 13 months now.
HELL YES. It is 100% worth it.
