I don't think it will hurt, if that what you are asking. Basically what happens is "optimization" translates PNGs into Apples format for faster loading by adding data to PNG's header file.

Well, it's not like it takes a lot of resources or time to optimize images, you know? At the end, I think it's worth it. This is especially good for themes that don't have their images optimized. Makes your phone load different parts of UI faster.
